This is quite simply the manner in which I care to instruct students.  The whole ethos of ALL our teaching is that of Self Development.  That cannot be done within a constrictive framework of set protocols and dogma.  I think you will get the picture...

The ultimate control freak.

Hold no-one in awe, ever.

Question everything that I say.

Never tell another how to live their own life.

All persons have the same rights as any other human being. Form your own view.

Do not take anything that I say as Gospel or carved in stone.

Follow your own heart and feelings. Trust your own intuition.

Healing comes from within. If you need help, ask and accept.

If another is to change, it will be by your example and tolerance.

Have faith in yourself at the very least.

Do not hold a view secretly. You will only offend me by not speaking.

Know the use of language well and that the true meaning of words is in the sound and what the words evoke, not in literal translation.

See the mind of a writer or thinker, not verbatim what is said.

A master may only guide or lead. If a student can only ever learn 70% and does no more, the art and meaning is lost.

For over many millennia there are those who have sought the true meaning of life. How may you seek to know it in a short time or ask another to give you the answers.

Develop your own abilities. Do not compare yourself to or try to imitate another.

See the beauty in this life, not just the intolerance and pursuits of greed, cruelty and lust.

I do not teach self defence. I teach self awareness and confidence in your self.

Hold true values and do not succumb to advertising and peer pressure.

All you need is the air in your lungs. The rest is a bonus which you can get.

Demand of others nothing but honesty.

Take only to the table of chance that which you can afford to lose.

Just BE. © Tony Hardiman Master of Chi-Do June 2003

Post script,  October 07.. Since writing this all those years ago and having adopted it throughout our classes, I was reminded of the words of the Lord Buddha (563 BC to 483 BC) who said ''Believe Nothing, no matter where you have read it, no matter if I have said it ; Unless it agrees with your own reason and commonsense''

True understanding comes with contemplation, diligent study, experience of life and perhaps, from our classes wherein we try to give you the tools to grow from within.

No one person is ever superior to any other and we all have something at which we are very good.  We all have skills not possessed by others and whatever you may bring to our classes will be appreciated.

We will learn and grow together.

Tony

All our instructors have a generous and affable manner of teaching, whether it be Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Chi-Do Martial Arts, Self defence or any of the Diploma courses.  The atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to learning at your own pace.

(Thank you, Angela for proof reading and pointing out my errors!  Good to have feed back. )
