A view of the classes room

The Chi Clinic is a teaching clinic and among our other activities we will be offering certificated Continuing Professional Development seminars on some Saturdays from 2 till 5 pm.

We should like to offer the opportunity to other suitably qualified therapists who are also members of the BCMA or who have qualified elsewhere.

Groups of 6 or more will be considered for training at a group discount.  Prices are available by arrangement.

We have a number of therapists who are active in clinics and hospitals or in private practice.

The following subjects and other courses will be made available.

1  Oppressive Patterns and Behaviour.  6 hrs.  Due to the relevance and depth of the subject, this will be a two part seminar with 3 hr intensive training followed by a 3 hr workshop the week after.  The physical effects of stress are profound and not easily understood.

2  Hand Reflexology.  There are 8 or more different systems in use and the one that I use is based on Chi Kung.  It was developed by me and others in about 1960 to treat those with Lost Limb Syndrome. This will be a one part class of 3 hrs intensive training.

3   Frozen Shoulder’. How to diagnose and treat this condition.  A much misunderstood subject that has many causes.  The term is merely a syndrome, not a diagnosis.  Over the years, we have treated many hundreds of cases successfully without surgery.  This will be a ‘hands on’ practical class with student participation and dissection of animal carcase.

4. 'The assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.'  Two class sessions.  Dates to be arranged later in the year.

5.  Remedial passive stretching for rehabilitation from injury or post operation.  This class will be repeated later in the year.  It was over subscribed and we all had great fun.

6.  Lymphatic drainage of the upper body.

We teach Chi Kung (Qigong) and projection of Chi, Chi Healing, Chi-Do Martial Arts and Tai Chi to instructor level as part of our courses in Self Development.  We have classes of one sort or another almost every day.  In our clinical practice we treat all manner of injuries and many conditions using acupuncture, acupressure, massage, moxibustion, Chi Healing etc.

If you would like to know more, please let me know or look at the website  www.thechiclinic.co.uk.   Group sessions can be arranged and block bookings of 6 students from the same company or clinic will be offered discounts.

Whatever you may learn here, there are cases that must be referred to a Doctor or consultant and advice or drugs given by a Doctor should be continued.

STUDENTS COMMENTS ON FROZEN SHOULDER LECTURE

Tony’s knowledge is extensive and as a Massage Therapist it was what I needed in my development. All health and safety issues were well covered and enforced. The dissection brought home how the muscles, tendons and ligaments attached and how the skeletal muscles worked. It showed the joint in its full glory and it gave me an opportunity to feel how the joint moved. This was made even clearer when working on a live body and feeling the energy (chi) required to move the joint. A fascinating lesson which I will take and work to try and perfect in my practice. Thank you.

----------

I thought this class was very good indeed.  I learnt so much, not just what one saw about how to deal with shoulder problems but how to work with the body; how to proceed to truly learn to understand the body. This was more than I expected and will be a great gift in my massage learning. Thank you.

----------

The dissection was brillant, it really emphasised what you learn from Tony and the textbooks and it put the knowledge into a more realistic setting. Connective tissue is so much more than I thought!  Critically, I just wish there had been more time for the dissection and the massage techniques!
